Committees

A. Membership The membership committee shall be responsible for recruitment, new member development, maintaining the member roster,and coordinating membership information with the chapter treasurer.

B. Professional and Social Issues Committee The professional and social issues committee shall be responsible for studying community issues which affect the Black community and make specific recommendations to the chapter’s executive committee as to what action the association should take in regard to each such issue.

C. Committee for Comprehensive Black Child and Family Services This committee shall be responsible for studying and identifying the necessary services to prevent Black family breakdown. Based upon the information obtained, the committee will make recommendations in terms of specific programs and or policy changes for rendering the necessary actions for problem resolution.

Rationale: Often, the changes required to improve the quality of life for clients involve the creation of new policies, modifications in program designs and even the termination of some existing programs or policies.

D. Fund Raising Committee This committee shall be responsible for developing fund raising plans in cooperation with the executive committee and recommend implementation of fund raising programs to the chapter membership.

E. Conference Committee This committee shall be responsible for developing, planning and conducting the local or regional conferences as prescribed by the chapter.

F. The Executive Committee This committee shall consist of the officers of the chapter and shall be responsible for major chapter policies and procedures. It shall be the responsibility of the executive committee to see that the constitution and By-Laws are adhered to by all members. It shall take action on such matters as goal-setting, planning, policy statements, ethical matters, and setting basic programs with consideration to their financial implications. The executive committee shall take action on statements made by any member or officer of the chapter or anyone who purports to speak for the chapter, and shall make or seek recommendations to the national association concerning any matters requiring their attention.

G. Scholarship and Education Committee This committee shall be responsible for establishing ties with high schools within the local community. The committee shall develop, plan and implement those programs approved by the executive committee and in conjunction with the fund raising committee which are geared toward providing scholarships to Black students
