About Us
The National Association of Black Social Workers was established in May of 1968, in San Francisco, California. The Dallas Chapter of NABSW has been in operation for 30 years. The mission of NABSW is to enhanced the quality of life and empower all people with emphasis on African Ancestry through advocacy, human services and research. Some of the Chapter's accomplishments for the program year of 2006-2007 include: The 2006 NABSW Southwest Regional Conference, State of African-American Conference and the Black-Brown Summit; presentation of scholarships to two high school graduates; increased membership by 50%; advocated for social work licensure changes; sponsored workshops on ethics, community capacity development, re-entry intervention, health (HIV), mental health and substance abuse awareness.
